Schedule Type: Part-time, Non-exempt Location: Office located in Dallas Fort-Worth, TX. Requires some travel throughout Texas.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations, Texas Austin & DFW (CAIR-TX) is looking for a passionate and talented individual to fill the Youth Development Coordinator position at its Dallas Fort-Worth office. Join one of the most dynamic teams defending civil rights on behalf of the American Muslim community, promoting civic engagement, and building coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding. The ideal candidate will play a central role in overseeing, mentoring, and managing the Young Muslim Leadership Council (YMLC), the youth arm of CAIR-TX. The candidate must be outgoing, understand the struggle of young American Muslims, and have strong interpersonal skills. 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Works with YMLC boards and members to develop innovate programs that serve young Muslims throughout Texas 
  • Develops and oversees the growth model for YMLC and its various boards
  • Create and lead youth programs, projects, interactive workshops, training sessions, and forums
  • Build relationships with CAIR-TX's youth through its various projects, such as the Lifelong Leaders Afterschool Program, YMLC, and other projects
  • Recruit, manage and train youth leaders
  • Community organizing and advocacy
  • Other jobs as assigned

 Qualifications  

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Ideal candidates possess experience working with high school and/or college students
  • Previous experience working in multicultural organizing spaces
  • Previous engagement with the American Muslim community and with social justice issues 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience with facilitation and public speaking.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and internet research.
  • Ability to convey information professionally and diplomatically.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to manage a variety of tasks.
