The Internship Program at CAIR-Texas, Austin offers college students a great opportunity to practice their theoritical knowledge in a friendly and diverse environment. Our program is career-oriented and based in grassroots activism.

Available Internships:

  1. Social Media and Web Design (Remote)
    Develop digital marketing strategies, Improve the chapter website, design fliers/banners for events, update social media platform, and maintain the chapter website.
  2. Operations and Development (Hybrid)
    Support documentation of activities and events, schedule meetings, write original content, support fundraising and outreach events, and improve fundraising and development strategies.
  3. Community Engagement and Advocacy (Hybrid)
    Organize and distribute civic engagement materials, support voter registration and canvassing efforts, collaborate on digital advocacy campaigns, and assist in planning advocacy training sessions such as Know Your Rights.

Application Guidelines:

A complete application consists of the following documents submitted by email:

2. Cover Letter that specifies the position you’re applying and session (i.e., Fall, Spring, or Summer) you’re applying for, as well as your interests and qualifications;

3. Resumé that lists your most relevant and updated profile and contact information; and

4. Work Samples When Applicable.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

-Having experience working with Muslim groups or serving the Muslim community.

-Bilingualism in English and any of the following languagaes: Arabic, Urdu, Bengali, Amharic, Farsi, Pashto, Dari, and Spanish.

TIMELINE & MINIMUM EXPECTATIONS

The internship opportunities are available all year long. Apply anytime in the year!

Applicants should be contacted within five (5) business days of sending their complete applications. If an applicant is identified as a viable candidate for the program, an interview is scheduled. Candidates may be asked for additional documents to compliment their applications prior to their interview.

CAIR-Texas, Austin chapter should notify the candidate of its decision within two (2) business weeks of the interview. Candidates must respond whether they accept or reject to join the program within one (1) business week.

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENT

Undergraduate/Graduate: Individuals who have attained at least a high school diploma or G.E.D. will be required to complete at least 12 weeks with a minimum of 12 hours per week.

ORIENTATION & TRAINING REQUIREMENT

It is required for each intern to attend the mandatory orientation sessions. Failure to fulfill this requirement will void the internship opportunity.

COMPLETION

Upon completing the minimum required number of weeks and hours, the intern must complete an exit interview with their supervisors for a final evaluation and to share their experience and their feedback. Interns with high performance may be invited to return for future sessions, given their availability and the organization’s needs.
